2017 BNSW Referee Academy Expressions of Interest are now open

Following the success of the 2016 Referee Academy program, Basketball NSW is calling for expressions of interest for the 2017 Referee Academy program, which is held in conjunction with the BNSW D-League program.

The Referee Academy is for referee’s 15 years or older and have been refereeing for a minimum of 12 months looking to complete Association Intermediate Referee Course or who are looking to refresh and update their skills.

The Academy will run on the 4th and 5th October 2017 at Bankstown Basketball Stadium, referee’s will then be required to attend both days of the Academy and also referee at the D-League on the 22nd and 29th October 2017 for a minimum of 2 games per day.

Each association is welcome to nominate officials for the Academy however this will be capped initially to 3 officials per Association and they must be listed in priority. Subject to numbers, we will accept more than 3 officials from each association after the first round of acceptances.

The Referee Academy will have some keynote speakers from all levels of officiating along with:
– Association Development and also Association Intermediate Course.
– Conflict Workshop
– Fitness
– On-Court Work
– Video Reviews

The cost of the Referee Academy is FREE with attendees being required to officiate at 2 rounds of D-League without pay, the Technical Officials department will be completing competencies at the D-League for the attendees.  

 

Referee’s who cannot, or do not wish to attend D-League can attend the Referee Academy, however, a fee of $110 will apply for those officials wishing to attend.

Officials who wish not to attend the D-League will only be given the theory component of the curriculum and will not be assessed on-court at D-League.
