Basketball New South Wales in conjunction with the West Sydney Wolves Basketball Association are proud to announce the official opening of the latest association in Western Sydney.

The West Sydney Wolves Basketball Association is the newest not for profit organization basketball association targeting five local government areas in Cumberland, Parramatta, Strathfield, Burwood and Canada Bay.

The West Sydney Wolves will have a strong connection to the local community with their key focus on providing the local area with world-class sporting facilities, grassroots to professional level training programs, experienced coaching and officiating staff.

They also will target an increased pathway for everyone partaking in the sport while also encouraging increased participation in basketball and physical activity overall.

Basketball New South Wales CEO, Maria Nordstrom said she is pleased to see the West Sydney Wolves Basketball Association grow and come into fruition and is excited about the prospect of furthering basketball development in Sydney, NSW.

“It is wonderful to see the West Sydney Wolves Basketball Association open its doors to the community to grow, promote and nurture the love of Basketball in our Western Sydney communities,” said Nordstrom.

“To have a professional and comprehensive pathway for athletes located in Western Sydney will not only help athletes of all ages continue their basketball development, but will also aid young, talented basketballers the increased opportunity to represent New South Wales and Australia on the world stage.”

The West Sydney Wolves Basketball Association will also focus on being a place that welcomes everyone from the community that would like to partake in basketball as well as being an accessible, inclusive, safe, clean, community-minded space.

West Sydney Wolves, CEO, Ronnie Khalil said he is excited about what the future will hold the new association and the improved pathways for athletes in the region.

“Our commitment to excellence goes far beyond the Basketball court and into the lives of all our young children. Not only is our focus on developing the kids on the court, but our drive to also help develop our children off the court truly defines the core values which make West Sydney Wolves more than a Basketball Association,” said Khalil

“Our Basketball, Athletics Director, Marvin Bayer, has designed a complete training system for our youth, from the grassroots and representative level, then on to the professional and world stage. We want to ensure our program enhances and transforms every player’s game and life.”

The new association will also be at the forefront of providing junior and senior training programs, competitions for all ages, association representative teams, and activities for players of all ages, abilities, and cultural backgrounds.
