“Firstly, congratulations to all young men involved in the NSW Country Basketball program. Their dedication and desire to learn across the four day camp did not go unnoticed. At the beginning of camp, we spoke about the concept of sacrifice and I feel there is no better example of sacrifice than our reserves ongoing commitment to NSW Country, and their desire to continue to improve their own games. As a team we cannot be satisfied with just receiving the uniform. We all need to continue on this journey of working towards our potential, by valuing the little things and continuing to step outside of our comfort zone.” – Jared Scoines (U16 Country Men Head Coach)
“Congratulations to the athletes selected. A few returning athletes from last years team. A good balance of strong tough guards with length & size in the front court has been selected to represent NSW Country. I’m very excited to see how the boys continue to improve and grow as a squad. The groups work ethic & toughness from the first two camps will be a great platform to grow on that has been set by the coaching staff”. – Curtis Sardi (High Performance Head Coach – Country)

“We are excited to be involved with this group, all squad members have pushed their case to be part of this team, making the final selection very difficult. In the end, we have chosen a team that can execute the BNSW style of play on both ends of the floor. We have a good mix of size, speed and agility, and believe that they can be competitive at the National Tournament in July. Looking forward to the journey and watching the kids get better.” – Martin McLean (U16 Country Women Head Coach)
“Congratulations to the athletes selected. The coaching staff has a selected well-rounded team of size & speed, to represent NSW Country. This will complement the exciting brand of basketball the coaches have decided to play. Exciting times ahead to watch this group come together over the next few months”. – Curtis Sardi (High Performance Head Coach – Country)

“The Coaching staff and myself were extremely impressed with the amount of talented young men that attended our trials from Day 1. Each individual made the process quite difficult in moving forward to our eventual decision of 10 very talented players. I know our entire group will be excited to compete and challenge each other over the next few months of preparation.
Our group has already spoken about setting high standards for ourselves whilst also aiming to get to know each other and building a great comradery before Nationals. Under 16 Nationals for our group presents the unknown, and we will work to prepare as a group for this challenge. I have no doubt that this team of young men selected will conduct themselves and play in a manner that best represents NSW and the values our State program stands for.” – Will Lopez (U16 Metro Men Head Coach)
Firstly, congratulations to the athletes who made the team and it is very exciting to see how these boys do at Nationals. They are a hard working group that present both an inside and outside offensive game along with a strong defensive presence. Looking forward to seeing how they compete at their first AJC. – Sam Gruggen (High Performance Head Coach – Metro)

“At our first trial back in March, we had over 80 athletes register to trial for the NSW Metro Under 16 Women’s Team. Over the last couple of weeks, the final selection of the team and the reserves has been extremely challenging. All of the athletes who attended the trials should be commended for their commitment and their efforts over the last six weeks and I thank them for being part of the trial process.
Our team is a combination of top and bottom age players from a variety of Basketball Associations around Sydney who play in the Metro Junior League. Shaun, Tom and I have selected a team we believe is extremely talented, has an excellent work ethic and the potential to continue the success that the NSW Metro Women have achieved at the National Championships over the last two years.
Over the next 10 weeks we have a lot of preparation and hard work ahead of us as a group. We are extremely excited represent NSW Metro and compete at the Under 16 National Championships on the Sunshine Coast in July”. – Lauryn Curtin (U16 Metro Women Head Coach)
“Firstly, congratulations to the athletes who have made the team, as this is also an exciting age group that has two returning athletes combined with a talented mix of girls. The coaching staff have selected a well-balanced team and we are exciting to see how they compete at Nationals”. – Sam Gruggen (High Performance Head Coach – Metro)
Congratulations to all those athletes who have been selected to represent New South Wales at the U16’s National Championship. #NSWProud
