Basketball New South Wales is pleased to officially announce the 2017 U18 Country Women’s & Men’s state teams.

The Under-18 Australian Championships and Kevin Coombs Cup will be held in Geelong, Victoria from the 21st– 28th of April.

U18 Country Women Head Coach, Michael Turton said it was a tough process to select the squad, but is adamant that this side has the balance it needs to succeed in the tournament.

“With some extremely difficult decisions being made, a mix between older athletes who have represented NSW at last year’s U18s, as well as adding from the younger age groups has seen a strong squad selected,” Turton said.

“Led by Centre of Excellence athlete Isabel Palmer, the selected team has an outstanding balance of scoring and defensive abilities.”

The NSW Country, Men’s side has been selected after athletes participated in three selection camps prior the final team announcement.

U18 Country Men Head Coach, Matthew Johnson said that having these selection camps are crucial to the development of the team and that he can’t wait to see the players that his coaching staff have selected perform at the Championship.

“The live-in style camps, have put the squad to the test, and as coaching staff, we could not be happier with the group that has been chosen,” said Johnson.

The challenge of a national Championship, is one the coaching staff are sure the chosen group will take to with the right attitude. All players have shown that they want to get better each time they step on the floor, and that’s all we ask.”
Basketball New South Wales would like to congratulate the following male and female athletes, who have been selected in the 2018 U18 State Teams.

We look forward to following your journey, and can’t wait to see you all in action #NSWProud
