Is your basketball team, college or club planning a trip to New South Wales and would like to play some games whilst here? if yes, then we would love to hear from you!
Basketball NSW works together with a number of inbound tour operators to coordinate a perfect “friendly or exhibition” games itinerary.
All games played in Australia will require approval from both Basketball NSW and Basketball Australia, if your team is planning on visiting other States, please note that approval must be received from ALL the respective State/Territory Associations.
It’s important to note, that games played either as a friendly or exhibition will only be approved when being played against one our affiliated member associations.
Exemptions from approval required are as follows:
1) If your team(s) has been invited to participate in a tournament that is being conducted by Basketball Australia and is being hosted in New South Wales, then approval from Basketball NSW is not required.
2) If your team is representing another International Federation, e.g. Basketball New Zealand, and that team is playing in a tournament being conducted by one our affiliated members, then approval from Basketball NSW is not required.
3) If your team is playing against either the Illawarra Hawks (NBL), Sydney Kings (NBL), Sydney Uni Flames (WNBL), then your game(s) must be approved by either Basketball Australia (WNBL teams) or the National Basketball League (NBL teams). Basketball NSW is not required to approve these games, it is, however, our responsibility to appoint referees, scoretable officials and statisticians to these games.
