Basketball New South Wales (BNSW) is a not-for-profit organisation that funds its operations from money received from player and association membership fees, sponsorships, government grants and Basketball Australia.

Associations can apply for National, State and Local grants and applications can be endorsed by Basketball NSW.
Associations can apply for funding from Basketball NSW to support the growth of basketball within their community.
Associations can apply to host major basketball events, both at a State and National level. These events generate a lot of tourism dollars for communities.
Governance and Representation
Associations can nominate individuals to be elected to either the Basketball NSW Board or one of our Advisory Committees.
Policies and Technical Support
Basketball’s policies and procedures documents can be used by associations in the day-to-day conduct of their own basketball operations. A piece of mind knowing that these documents satisfy the requirements of the Australian Sports Commission and the Office of Sport.
Associations can receive onsite and over the phone support from Basketball NSW staff, assistance and support cover governance and administration, member protection, participation and development programs, competitions, high-performance, information & technology, marketing and much more.
Sporting Pathways & Development
Associations and their members are exposed to our pathways, these pathways provide opportunities for players, coaches, referees, statisticians, scoretable officials to perform at different levels of our game.
Associations can receive support and assistance in becoming a recognised inclusive hub, providing opportunities for more members of the community to play the game of basketball.
Individuals can receive formal training by our accredited presenters in the areas of coaching, refereeing, being a statistician or being a score-table official and accreditation receive being nationally and in some cases internationally recognised.
Associations can nominate and where eligible can participate in State-based competitions for both juniors and seniors.
Junior Participation and Development
Associations can apply to become a recognised Aussie Hoops Centre, our sports national development program for 5-10-year-olds. By becoming an Aussie Hoops Centre our associations can then access other programs, such as Sporting Schools which is funded by the Australian Sports Commission.
Associations and Members can receive exclusive benefits from the Sydney Kings, Illawarra Hawks and the Sydney Uni Flames, the three professional teams who participate in the sports national leagues.

Basketball NSW also pays fees to Basketball Australia and those fees support our governing body on a variety of different projects, the most prominent being to support our senior national teams, the Boomers, Opals, Rollers, Gliders, Boomers (PWII Men), Pearls (PWII Women), Emus (U19 Men), Gems (U19 Women), Crocs (U17 Men), Sapphires (U17 Women), Goannas (Deaf Men), Geckos (Deaf Women), Dingoes (Deaf U21 Men) and Ringtails (Deaf U21 Women).
Basketball in NSW and Australia is on the rise, as a nation, we are competitive at all levels of the game, Olympics, Paralympics, World Championships (Juniors and Seniors) and also in 3X3.
The sport as a whole is working collectively to source new revenue streams to enable the sport to grow the game and to become less reliant on membership fees to fund our programs.
