I AM A GIRL I CAN DO ANYTHING
I am GIRL – is a program run by Basketball NSW that aims to create a platform encourage females of all ages to play, referee, coach, officiate and administrate BASKETBALL. The program provides pathways and assists in the development of female role models.
Today, we are introducing the ‘VIPs’. To acknowledge the ‘Very Inspirational People’ we have in our game. We want to recognise the girls and women in our game across our Waratah Junior Competitions. Not only are we looking for a ‘Team of the Month’, each month the competition runs, we are also looking to recognise a ‘Coach of the Month’, and ‘Official of the Month’, and a ‘Volunteer of the Month’.
The criteria is simple; this is not based on wins and losses. We are looking to recognise and celebrate the team and person that embodies our ethos – ‘empower, inspire and encourage’. The team that demonstrates fair play and sportsmanship, and the individual that goes above and beyond and is a general all round superstar of our game.
Team eligibility is open to u/12 – u/18 and to any team that is participating in our Waratah Junior Leagues.
Show your appreciation and tell us all about these teams and unsung heroes each month by nominating them through our website or Facebook via the nomination link. Nominees and finalists will be profiled, and our winners celebrated at the start of the following month.
Nominations will be open all month, to coincide with the country leagues that do not play weekly, and for our metro leagues to nominate after each round. Nominations close on the LAST Tuesday of every month.
Prizes could include Sydney Flames prize packs, team outings, and gift vouchers and will be presented soon after the winners are announced.
These are YOUR awards. We want to recognise, and celebrate all girls and women that make our game GREAT!!
Empower yourselves to Inspire your teammates and Encourage them to be the best that YOU can be!
Kicking off with MARCH…. Here we go.
Nominations will open from Monday 19th March and will close 5pm Tuesday 27th March.
