The role of the technical officials is to ensure the game is played in a fair and safe manner and within the rules. Refereeing is the most physical active as they are on-court and “call” the game. Other technical officials perform various roles on the scoretable and statistics and further information about each role is given below.

Each year Basketball NSW enters teams into Basketball Australia's National Championships in the U20's, U18', U16', Wheelchair Basketball and for Players with an Intellectual Impairment.

The 2024 Mitsubishi Motors NBL1 East season is well underway - displaying elite basketball skill from around the state!
NBL1 consists of South, North, Central, West and East Conferences with both men’s and women’s competitions.
NBL1 East launched on April 6th for the 2024 season, and concludes with finals to be played on August 10th.
The women’s grand final will tip-off at 2:00pm and feature the Newcastle Falcons taking on the Sutherland Sharks for the championship title.
After crowning the women’s NBL1 East winners for the 2024 season, the men’s grand final will be underway, with a NBL1 East 2022 grand final re-match between the Canberra Gunners and the Maitland Mustangs.
Tickets are sold separately for the women’s and the men’s grand finals, priced at a flat $20 per ticket per game, excluding GST.
The winning Men and Women’s teams from NBL1 East will progress to the NBL1 National Finals the following weekend, taking place on the Sunshine Coast, where the NBL1 East 2024 title-holders will battle it out against the best of the other conferences.
