  • GAICD qualifications preferred

Position Description

Basketball NSW invites applications from eligible individuals who wish to be considered for two (2) Appointed Director roles. There is a small ex-gratia payment paid to cover costs.

It is an exciting time to join the Board as we are in the process of developing the 2026-2029 Strategy.  It will continue to focus on increasing basketball participation in NSW which is underpinned by infrastructure expansion. The Board is seeking interested candidates with a background and senior experience in any of the following: Government relations and/or advocacy, Business, investment, and commercial funding experience, including private equity or philanthropic trusts and current or extensive experience in basketball sports administration or technical expertise at the State, Board or higher level.

Selection Criteria

The nomination process is being run by the Nominations Committee with a focus on skills category requirements and director attributes as set out in the Basketball NSW Board Skills Matrix.

Candidates should possess the following personal attributes:

  • A commitment to the highest standards of governance and integrity;
  • Demonstrated passion and time to make a genuine and active contribution to the Board
    • Well-developed strategic thinking capabilities and ability to contribute to the effective decision making of the Board;
    • Excellent communication skills with a collaborative approach;
    • Capacity to leverage professional networks to promote and grow Basketball NSW by creating opportunities for both financial and other support to create more programs to access the sport and more places to play.
