2016 Youth and Rookie Players of the Year Awards

Basketball NSW is pleased to announce the winners of the Youth and Rookie Players of the Year awards for 2016 Molten Waratah League.

The Waratah League Youth and Rookie Player of the Year awards are determined by votes from the Head Coach and Team Captain of each team in these divisions. Voters were not permitted to vote for members of their own team.

Championship Men Youth Player of the Year
Maitland Mustangs guard Viliami Foketi has been voted the 2016 Molten Waratah League Youth Player of the Year for the Championship Men’s Division. The 20-year-old scored 82 points at an average of 4.8 points per game, and with a field goal percentage of 60.0%.

Championship Women Youth Player of the Year
Newcastle Hunters guard Alison Ebzery has been voted the 2016 Molten Waratah League Youth Player of the Year for the Championship Women’s Division. The 19-year-old scored 153 points at an average of 9.6 points per game, and with a field goal percentage of 42.4%.

Division 1 Youth Men
Norths Bears guard Brennan Rymer has been voted the 2016 Molten Waratah League Rookie of the Year for the Division 1 Youth League Men’s Division. The 18-year-old scored 382 points at an average of 25.5 points per game.

Division 1 Youth Women
Central Coast Crusaders guard Alessandra Gasparetto has been voted the 2016 Molten Waratah League Rookie of the Year for the Division 1 Youth League Women’s Division. The 19-year-old scored 136 points at an average of 9.1 points per game.

Division 2 Youth Men
Hills Hornets centre Zach Stosic has been voted the 2016 Molten Waratah League Rookie of the Year for the Division 2 Youth League Men’s Division. The 18-year-old scored 202 points at an average of 11.2 per game.
