Basketball New South Wales held their annual awards on the 8th of December, 2019 at Qudos Bank Arena during the WNBL & NBL double header featuring the Sydney Uni Flames & Sydney Kings. BNSW would like to congratulate all nominees and award recipients on their achievements and for joining us to celebrate.
Scoretable Official of the Year:
Congratulations to Roupen Zarigian from Norths Basketball Association on being awarded the Scoretable Official of the Year.
Roupen has a strong commitment to his association and the Spalding Waratah Senior League. Roupen has been appointed to many BNSW Senior League Finals and is also now a regular on the NBL and WNBL Sccoretable roster. He also assisted with the scorebench during the USA v Canada game earlier this year.
Statistician of the Year:
Congratulations to Robyn Dening from Bankstown Basketball Association on being awarded the Statistician of the Year.
Robyn has recently taken on, for the first time, the role of the stats coordinator for Bankstown Basketball Association for the season . Robyn assisted the BNSW Stats Coordinator by coordinating and running the stats component of the Spalding Waratah League Senior Finals weekend at Gosford in August 2019.
During this time she worked with educators to ensure our statisticians were rostered and given feedback. Several officials also received invitations to be upgraded. This was Robyn’s first time running such an event in the stats program and her commitment and dedication to her association, the league and BNSW is to be commended.
Referee of the Year:
Basketball New South Wales is pleased to announce our 2019 Referees of the Year. The award is split into three categories, in direct relation to the Spalding Waratah League competition.
(Championship Division) – Shahrad Shafaghi (Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Basketball Association)
(Division 1) – Stephen Chapman (Bathurst Basketball Association)
(Youth League) – Marko Nikolic (Bankstown Basketball Association)
