2024 OPENS SCHOOLS TOURNAMENT STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Basketball NSW Open’s Schools Tournament State Championships were held on June 25th and 26th at the Penrith Valley Regional Sports Centre, drawing schools from across New South Wales for an intense battle for the top prize.

A total of 40 schools competed across three divisions, resulting in 76 games over the course of the event. The fierce competition featured many thrilling moments that kept the audience captivated.

The tournament was open to all schools within the Opens age group, featuring teams that had advanced from regional competitions across the state. The leading teams from each region in their respective divisions faced off in the State Championships.

Basketball NSW extends a special thanks to the referees who ensured fairness and integrity throughout the tournament. 

The dedicated officials included Anastaisha De Vos, Ashton Morrison, Bailey Baxter, Broughton Hamilton, Callum Holt, Charlotte De Vos, Daniel Robinson, Dustin D’Souza, Harmony Hudson-Stevens, Jake Erickson, Kaiah Wong, Lachlan Francis, Leonie Moore, Lucas Wylie-Fahey, Matias Chong, Mia Consolacion, Nadim El-Haddad, Nayte Wylie-Fahey, Tatiana Beaumont and Ysabel Rimando. 

Basketball NSW Senior Manager for Competitions & Leagues, Chanelle Bailey, shared her enthusiasm for the event.

“It was incredible to witness such strong competition at our first State Championships for the Opens age group,” Bailey remarked.

“We’re looking forward to the upcoming Primary Schools tournaments later this year. A big thank you to everyone who took part; we can’t wait to build on this success in the future.”

Winners – Glenmore Park High School
Runners Up – Central Coast Sports College

More Information: The BNSW School Tournaments consist of regional tournaments for both Primary and Secondary Schools. These tournaments culminate in the top teams from each region competing at the State Championships where the best team from NSW will be crowned. These tournaments are open to all New South Wales schools. Primary will be hosted later in 2024.
