Basketball NSW is pleased to announce the launch of the inaugural Waratah Masters League, which will officially tip off later this September.

The new competition has been developed to provide ongoing playing opportunities for athletes who want to remain active in the sport, continue competing at a high standard and enjoy the social and community benefits that basketball offers. With divisions designed to cater for a range of age groups and playing levels, the league represents an exciting addition to the Waratah competition pathway. Associations have submitted teams across the three age groups/divisions.

The 2025 season will feature three divisions:

  • Men’s 40+
  • Men’s 50+
  • Women’s Open

The Waratah Masters League will be contested across seven rounds, hosted by associations throughout Sydney. The fixtures are as follows:

  • Saturday, 20th September – Round 1 at Sydney Uni Aquatic Centre, Inner West
  • Sunday, 28th September – Round 2 at Northern Beaches Indoor Sports Centre, Manly
  • Sunday, 12th October – Round 3 at Barker College, Hornsby
  • Sunday, 2nd November – Round 4 at Bankstown Basketball Stadium
  • Sunday, 9th November – Round 5 at Penrith Valley Regional Sports Centre
  • Sunday, 16th November – Round 6 at North Sydney Indoor Sports Centre
  • Sunday, 23rd November – Round 7 at Sutherland Basketball Stadium

The Masters League will not only showcase the ongoing passion for basketball among experienced players but also strengthen connections within the wider basketball community. By providing a competitive yet social environment, the league will ensure that players of all ages can continue to enjoy and contribute to the game.

Basketball NSW is still accepting team entries in the Women’s Open and Men’s 50+ divisions, with limited spots available. If you are an Association interested and would like more information, including details on how to register a team, please email louis.mcguckian@bnsw.com.au
