Basketball NSW is pleased to confirm the affiliation of Parramatta-Cumberland Basketball Association (PCBA) as the newest member of the BNSW basketball family. Effective immediately, PCBA will be the recognised provider of community basketball in the Parramatta and Cumberland Local Government Areas.
Based out of the Camellia Indoor Sports Centre, located at 9 Grand Ave, Camellia NSW 2142, the Association will work closely with local schools, community groups, and basketball participants of all ages to grow the sport across two of the fastest-growing regions in the state.
This is a significant step forward. The popularity of basketball across NSW continues to grow, and this new Association will help ensure that players, coaches, referees, and volunteers in Parramatta and Cumberland are supported with inclusive programs and quality pathways.
Maria Nordstrom, CEO of Basketball NSW, said the affiliation of PCBA is a key step in the sport’s long-term vision for Greater Sydney.
“This is a fresh start for basketball in Parramatta and Cumberland. We’ve seen incredible demand for the sport in these areas, and this new Association gives us the structure to meet that demand. I want to thank the team at Sydney Sports Management Group for their professionalism and commitment, and we look forward to supporting PCBA in building a strong, inclusive basketball community.”
This change also brings closure of the West Sydney Wolves as a member of Basketball NSW. All former members of the West Sydney Wolves will now become members of the new Parramatta-Cumberland Basketball Association.
We’d like to thank the Sydney Sports Management Group (SSMG), the venue operators for Camellia Indoor Sports Centre, for overseeing basketball being provided to the community since partway through 2024. Their ongoing support through this transition has been important, and their commitment to ensuring basketball remains accessible and active in this region is greatly appreciated.
Representative basketball will also have a fresh look, with PCBA’s representative program will compete under a new name and identity from the 2026 season, more information will be released in early 2026.
