New South Wales Basketball Association Limited is pleased to announce that Lisa Yen and Steve Lennon have accepted the Board’s invitations to join the Board as appointed Directors to fill vacancies created by the resignation of Gina McClement and Daryl Connelly.

Lisa Yen – Board Appointed Director

Lisa Yen was appointed to the Board by Directors effective 22 May 2021 and attended her first Board meeting on Tuesday 15th June 2021. Lisa’s term is for two years and automatically retires at her second annual general meeting (2023).  Lisa also replaces Daryl Connelly as the chair of the Finance and Audit Sub-Committee of the Board with her accounting background and expertise. 

Lisa is a Chartered Accountant and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Lisa brings over 20 years of extensive financial experience in tax, business advisory, and commercial acumen, within a range of local and international industries and in both private and non-profit sectors. Her professional career encompasses Crowe Horwath Findex, Colliers International, and Coca-Cola.

Lisa is the Chair of a non-profit organisation in the Education sector and has a passion for sports. For many years, she has managed basketball teams and has been on courtside on a weekly basis.

“Lisa’s work with non for profits and providing financial support to large organisations will be invaluable and provide the board with essential financial and risk advice as we move into the next phase of our strategic plan”, Jennifer Dean said.

Steve Lennon – Board Appointed Director

Steve Lennon was appointed to the Board by Directors effective 15 June 2021 and will attend his first Board meeting in August.  Steve’s initial term continues until the next AGM to fill the balance of Gina McClement’s remaining Board appointed term.  Steve was appointed for his extensive management consulting experience and expertise to assist the Board and CEO with the next critical phase of development and funding of both the metropolitan and country-identified infrastructure projects.

Steve is a senior strategy & technology advisor to Boards and C-Level executives, experienced audit & risk committee member and company director. He originally qualified as a Chartered Accountant and has served as managing director, Australia of the global creative agency Imagination; principal, management consulting with Arup, the design and engineering firm and in consulting leadership roles at several global IT services firms including DXC, SMS Management & Technology, Fujitsu, CGI and Cognizant.

In his executive role as a Principal at Nous Group, Steve advises companies, industry bodies, and government agencies on their most critical strategy, operations, organisation, and technology challenges. He regularly facilitates strategic thinking, planning, and alignment sessions for leaders at all levels.

Steve has been a keen sportsman for most of his life, involved in sports administration and not-for-profit organisations, including as Chairman of the Bayswater Lawn Tennis Club in Perth.

Steve is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Directors, a Committee Member for Regional Development Australia (RDA), Sydney, and a Member of the Business Dynamism & Competitiveness Advisory Committee for CEDA.

“Steve’s considerable experience working alongside government agencies and the management of projects will ensure that the board can continue to strategically plan for the development of more facilities across the state,” Jennifer Dean added.
