Basketball NSW is excited to announce a new partnership with NBA 2K, the iconic basketball video game franchise, a collaboration that marks an exciting step forward as Basketball NSW teams up with one of the sport’s most influential entertainment brands.

Since its debut in 1999, with Philadelphia 76ers icon Allen Iverson featured on the inaugural cover, NBA 2K has become a staple of basketball culture worldwide, with over 160 million units sold across multiple platforms since that first-ever release.

Basketball NSW, CEO, Maria Noordstram said the new partnership is an exciting way for the organisation to connect with basketballers not just in real life, but virtually.

“This is an exciting new partnership that now allows us to connect with a virtual audience that may not just be playing basketball on a physical court,” said Nordstrom

“The 2K brand is a culture setter in the basketball world, and we are excited to partner and welcome them into the Basketball NSW family.”

Make sure you keep an eye out, as NBA 2K will be making appearances at numerous Basketball NSW events and tournaments moving forward, from activations to opportunities to get your hands on a copy of their new game, with lucky fans already scoring exclusive copies at the NBL1 East Grand Final. It’s an exciting time for NSW basketball gamers.

With NBA 2K26 having dropped on the 5th September 2025, fans flocked to grab their copies ahead of what is expected to be another exceptional season of NBA basketball.

This year, Canadian NBA Champion and current league MVP, Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, will be gracing the cover of a game that will feature all-new rosters, a returning fan-favourite shot meter, and flexible custom player packages for MyCareer.

Fans can now drive down the lane and use Trae Young’s floaters and Steph Curry’s iconic scoop layups. Or, for some Aussie flavour, how about Ben Simmons’ dunk package and Dante Exum’s jumpshot?

Australia is well represented in the video game, with over 20 Aussies playing across the NBA and WNBA. Fans will get the chance to lead the Chicago Bulls with Josh Giddey, help the Seattle Storm return to the playoffs with Ezi Magbegor and get a glance of Sutherland Sharks junior Tyrese Proctor lacing them up for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
