Basketball New South Wales is pleased to announce a landmark multi year partnership with Wilson, who will become the Official Ball Provider for all competitions and events across the state, commencing January 1, 2025.

As Basketball NSW embarks on this exciting new chapter with Wilson, a heartfelt appreciation is extended to Spalding for their support and collaboration over the past six-plus years. Spalding has been part of our growth and success of basketball across the state over that period, and their contribution to the sport’s journey is deeply valued.

This new strategic alliance with Wilson marks a significant milestone for Basketball NSW, reflecting a continued mission to elevate the quality of the game for players, coaches, and communities. Wilson, a globally recognised leader in sports innovation, shares the vision for promoting basketball at all levels, with a shared commitment to fostering ongoing development and growth of the sport across New South Wales.

Wilson’s dedication to basketball is evident through global partnerships with prestigious leagues and organisations, including the NBA, WNBA, and NCAA. Their proven commitment to delivering high-quality, professional-grade equipment ensures that Basketball NSW athletes at all levels will have access to the same elite-level products used by the world’s top players. This partnership enables the community to “Play What the Pros Play.”

Basketball NSW, CEO, Maria Nordstrom, expressed her enthusiasm for the new five year partnership, emphasising the importance of aligning with a global brand known for excellence and innovation in sports equipment.

“Partnering with Wilson reflects our dedication to providing top-tier equipment and experiences for our basketball community underpinned by a shared purpose, vision, and values,” said Nordstrom.

“This partnership goes beyond just supplying basketballs; it’s about delivering a professional, high-performance experience that players, coaches, and fans can all benefit from. The opportunity to collaborate with Wilson, a global leader in sports innovation, is exciting, and the upcoming unveiling of BNSW-branded basketballs in early 2025 will symbolise a continued commitment to quality, growth, and development within the basketball community.”

“I would also like to sincerely thank Spalding for their valued partnership and support over the past six years. Following a comprehensive market assessment, the decision was made to transition to Wilson, a move that aligns with the level of basketball products featured in the NBA, WNBA, and NCAA.”

Beyond supplying equipment and balls, the agreement is focused on supporting Basketball NSW’s network of associations by offering development opportunities, rewards, and promotional initiatives designed to drive engagement and participation throughout the NSW basketball community.

This partnership further strengthens Basketball NSW’s position as a leader in fostering basketball talent and enhancing community involvement across New South Wales.

Head of Wilson Sporting Goods – Australia & New Zealand, Phillip Watkins also expressed his enthusiasm for the new partnership highlighting the significance of the collaboration.

“Wilson is delighted to partner with Basketball NSW as the official ball provider. The partnership provides Wilson the opportunity to showcase its innovation to the NSW membership and support talent pathways from the grassroot, right through to the elite level,” added Watkins.

“I want to thank Maria (Nordstrom) and the team at Basketball NSW for this opportunity and we look forward to servicing the broader basketball community in NSW.”
