Basketball NSW is pleased to announce the appointment of David Simpson as Interim Chief Executive Officer.
Simpson brings extensive leadership experience across the Australian sporting landscape, with a strong background in governance, member relations and game development. Many within the basketball community will be familiar with Simpson through his recent roles as Executive General Manager – Member Relations & Game Development at Basketball Australia and previously as Chief Executive Officer of Basketball ACT.
Across his career, Simpson has also held senior roles with the Australian Sports Commission (Sport Australia), where he worked across governance, financial advisory and strategic sport management functions. His breadth of experience across national and state sporting organisations positions him well to support Basketball NSW through this interim period.
Basketball NSW Chair, Lisa Yen, welcomed Simpson’s appointment and highlighted the value of his experience and leadership.
“As we welcome David, the Board is continuing the formal search for a permanent CEO. We look forward to working closely with him during this period as the organisation continues to deliver its strategic priorities, support its members and stakeholders and strengthen pathways for basketball across New South Wales,” said Yen.
