The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2026, “All In,” is a powerful celebration of our shared commitment to reconciliation across Basketball NSW. It reflects how we show up every day, as a sport, an organisation, and a community, working together to create a more inclusive and respectful game.

For Basketball NSW, “All In” represents the collective commitment shown across every level of the game, from players, coaches, officials, volunteers and Associations through to staff and leadership, to foster meaningful change both on and off the court. Just like in basketball, success comes from teamwork. This theme highlights the collective role we all play in driving positive change, fostering respect, and creating opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to thrive within our game.

It also recognises the strength, leadership, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, while reinforcing that reconciliation is a shared journey, one that brings us all together and moves us forward as one community.

Basketball NSW is also pleased to share an update on the second cycle of the organisation’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) building on the foundations and outcomes of the inaugural RAP (2023–2025).

Basketball NSW, Interim CEO, David Simpson said the next phase of the RAP journey would continue to embed reconciliation across all areas of the organisation.

“Our RAP is an intentional and active framework designed to deepen our understanding of First Nations Peoples and cultures, while also consolidating and expanding the work already undertaken,” said Simpson.

“We recognise that meaningful and lasting progress is achieved through ongoing learning, respect, and sustained action, enabling us to create genuine opportunities and pathways across all levels of our sport.”

“As we move into this next phase, reconciliation principles will continue to be further embedded into our strategic priorities, governance structures, and day-to-day operations. This includes strengthening engagement across committees and boards, and ensuring reconciliation is reflected across programs, competitions, leagues, high-performance pathways, and organisational culture.”

“We acknowledge that reconciliation is an ongoing journey requiring sustained commitment, accountability, and action. We are proud to continue this work as we build on the foundations already established and progress into the next stage of our RAP journey.”

National Reconciliation Week will run from May 27 to June 3, providing an opportunity for communities across Australia to learn about shared histories, cultures, and achievements, while exploring how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
