Expressions of Interest are now open for the ICaLD Women’s Emerging Leaders Program, a new six-month initiative from Basketball NSW designed to support the next generation of female leaders in basketball and the wider community.
The program will bring together 20 women aged 18–30 from across New South Wales, with a strong focus on multicultural and Indigenous representation. It is open to participants from all areas of the game, including players, coaches, referees, officials and administrators.
Beginning on Tuesday the 2nd of June, the program will run over six months and include seven online sessions, held fortnightly. Sessions will be led by experienced guest speakers including Annie La Fleur OLY, Fleur McIntyre, Jacqui Dover, Liz Mills, Jahin Tanvir, Brendan Lloyd and Peter Lonergan. Each session will focus on key leadership areas such as personal development, leading yourself and others, community inclusion, and leadership in coaching and officiating.
Participants will also complete practical tasks and take part in mentorship check-ins throughout the program, helping them apply what they learn in real-world settings.
The program aims to build leadership skills, confidence and connections, while creating positive role models for grassroots basketball. Participants will develop skills that can be applied both within sport and in their broader personal and professional lives.
As part of the program, two participants will be selected for a five-day internship at the Basketball NSW office in Homebush. The internship will align with major events such as the NBL and WNBL Indigenous Rounds and the First Nations State Championships, providing hands-on experience across different areas of the organisation. All travel, accommodation, meals will be covered by Basketball NSW.
Participants will be selected through an Expression of Interest process, with endorsement from their local association. Selection will focus on leadership potential, community involvement, commitment to the program, and alignment with diversity and inclusion values.
Expressions of Interest are open and close on Friday, 22nd May 2026. The program will begin on Tuesday, 2 June 2026, with internship recipients announced on 15 September 2026.
Basketball NSW encourages eligible participants from across the state to apply.
