Basketball NSW is thrilled to welcome AJ Lamarque as the official Ambassador for Pride in Basketball program and the 2025 Pride Basketball Australia Tournament.
AJ, a comedian, writer, and presenter, is a celebrated creative talent based in Sydney. His diverse career spans TV, stand-up comedy, articles, and playwriting. Beyond his professional achievements, AJ is also a passionate social basketballer and a proud member of the Sydney Spectres.
In his role as Ambassador, AJ will champion the 2025 Pride Basketball Australia Tournament, taking place on Friday, 28 February, and Saturday, 1 March 2025, at the Concord Oval Recreation Centre (8 Gipps St, Concord NSW 2137). His ambassadorship extends beyond the tournament, with AJ documenting his personal basketball journey through his social media channels to inspire others to discover the benefits of basketball and connect with the basketball community.
“It took 3 years of visiting the Sydney Spectres stall at Fair Day to finally muster up the courage to give it a go and I’m glad I did. I’m excited to help encourage other people to get involved and reap all the benefits of social basketball” remarked AJ.
Basketball NSW, CEO, Maria Nordstrom expressed her excitement in welcoming AJ as an ambassador, emphasising her hope that AJ’s involvement will inspire greater attendance at the upcoming Pride Basketball Australia Tournament in February.

Celebrating Diversity in Basketball – 2025 Pride Basketball Tournament
The 2025 Pride Basketball Australia Tournament is Basketball NSW’s third event of its kind and is proudly part of the 2025 Mardi Gras Sport Program. This year’s tournament celebrates diversity and inclusion with four exciting divisions: Men’s, Women’s, Non-Gendered, and Wheelchair. Open to LGBTQIA+ players and allies, the event is a showcase of talent, sportsmanship, and unity.
Basketball NSW invites all basketball enthusiasts to join this unforgettable celebration. Whether you’re an experienced player, a social player, a technical official, or simply a basketball fan, the tournament promises a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone.

- Register a team or individual player (Team Regos close Fri 17th Jan 2025, with player registrations closing Fri 28th Feb 2025)
