Basketball NSW is thrilled to announce a new multi-year partnership with Destination Wollongong, who will proudly present the 2025 & 2027 Junior State Cup.

This exciting collaboration represents a significant milestone in promoting grassroots basketball and strengthening community ties in the Illawarra region. By joining forces, Basketball NSW and Destination Wollongong aim to deliver an outstanding sporting experience for junior athletes, families, and fans alike.

The 2025 Junior State Cup will take place on the 9th & 10th of August across two premier venues: the iconic Snakepit Basketball Stadium and the Illawarra Sports Stadium in Berkeley. The event will showcase the rising stars of NSW basketball, as teams from across the state come together to compete at the highest level in pursuit of state honours.

Basketball NSW, CEO, Maria Nordstrom, expressed her excitement in working with Destination Wollongong.

“We are delighted to be working with Destination Wollongong to bring the 2025 Junior State Cup to the Illawarra,” said Nordstrom.

“This event is not only a celebration of our sport’s young talent but also an opportunity to engage the wider community and promote basketball’s positive impact across New South Wales and the Illawarra.”

Destination Wollongong, General Manager, Jeremy Wilshire echoed this sentiment, highlighting the broader benefits for the region.

“Wollongong is proud to welcome the 2025 Basketball NSW Junior State Cup to our city. Events like this not only showcase elite junior talent but also highlight our region as a vibrant destination for families, sport lovers, and community engagement”, said Wilshire.

“We look forward to hosting athletes, coaches, and supporters and giving them a taste of everything Wollongong has to offer both on and off the court.”

The 2025 fixture will be released at a later date once teams qualify for the event.
