In an exciting partnership between Basketball NSW and Bathurst Regional Council, it is with great pride that we announce Bathurst Regional Council’s presentation of the U12 & U14 Spalding Waratah State Cup for 2024 & 2026.
This announcement marks a significant milestone for both BNSW and Bathurst Regional Council, showcasing a shared dedication to enriching Bathurst’s sports scene and offering a platform for emerging basketball talents to thrive. The cooperative venture is slated to span two years, highlighting the enduring commitment of both entities to youth sports development.
The highly anticipated State Cup is scheduled to take place on the 17th and 18th of August at the Bathurst Indoor Sports Stadium, promising an electrifying display of junior basketball excellence from across New South Wales.
In expressing excitement towards this partnership, Basketball NSW, CEO, Maria Nordstrom extended appreciation to Bathurst Regional Council for their support, acknowledging their efforts in nurturing grassroots sports within the community.
“We extend our gratitude to Bathurst Regional Council for their invaluable partnership and working with us to present the U12 & U14 Spalding Waratah State Cup in Bathurst for 2024 and 2026,” said Nordstrom.
“The Council’s support underscores our joint commitment to nurturing youth in our regional areas and promoting community engagement. Together, we eagerly anticipate showcasing the passion and talent of young basketball players across NSW.”
Bathurst Regional Council, Mayor Cr Jess Jennings said the tournament will showcase young basketball talent from across the state.
“We will have the best young basketball talent from the state on the court in Bathurst for the tournament. It is an opportunity for these players to take part in a competition that will help build skills and confidence on the court as they compete for the Spalding Waratah State Cup,” said Cr Jennings.
“We may even get to see a future Boomer or Opals team member come through the basketball ranks via this tournament.”
BNSW anticipates the participation of approximately 32 teams during the Bathurst weekend, with premier teams converging from various metro and country leagues to vie for victory.
