Basketball NSW is proud to announce the successful delivery of 30 Department of Education Multi-Sport Gala Days across New South Wales over the past 4 months, marking a significant expansion in accessible and inclusive sporting opportunities for young people across the state.

Designed to provide adaptive, enjoyable and participation-focused sessions, the Multi-Sport Gala Days support both primary and high school students in experiencing different sports in a welcoming environment. These events were held in partnership with the NSW Department of Education in Tamworth, Wagga Wagga, Albury, Queanbeyan, Goulburn, Castle Hill, Windsor, Central Coast, Dubbo, Orange, Bathurst, Alexandria, Penrith and Sutherland in term 3. In term 4 saw us deliver basketball in Ballina, Grafton, Coffs Harbour, Northern Beaches, Minto, Shoalhaven, Illawarra, Blacktown, Maitland, Forster, Port Macquarie, Newcastle and Bankstown.

At each event, Basketball NSW delivered tailored basketball activities led by Basketball NSW’s Assist All Hoops Program Administrator, Gabriel Karagiannis. His leadership and passion for inclusive sport helped ensure that every student, regardless of skill level, background or ability felt supported.

Across the 4-month period, more than 5,500 students participated in Basketball NSW-run sessions.

Basketball NSW extends its appreciation to the NSW Department of Education for its ongoing collaboration, as well as our associations that provided additional coaches and support staff throughout the program. Their involvement helped deliver high-quality sessions and created memorable experiences for students.

The growth of the Multi-Sport Gala Days highlights the power of partnership and community in building healthier, more active futures for students across New South Wales.
