Basketball NSW is excited to announce the launch of the Sydney Kings HSC Program for 2018. The program, which will be delivered in partnership with SEDA College and the Sydney Kings, will provide students in Years 11 and 12 with the opportunity to complete their HSC studies within sport and community settings.
For prospective students, this is a chance to gain educational and industry qualifications while gaining a first-hand understanding of the sports industry through involvement with Basketball NSW and the Sydney Kings.
As part of the Sydney Kings HSC Program, students will have the opportunity to learn from staff within Basketball NSW and be involved in industry programs, major events, practical placement and other industry experiences.
“BNSW are pleased to work with The Kings and SEDA on the HCS program for year 11 and 12 students in NSW,. We are happy to provide in the job learning of our sport as well as sports and event management. The program allows kids to experience working in sport at grass-roots and elite level prior to entering the workforce or undertaking a degree or diploma in Sports Management” said Maria Nordstrom, the CEO of BNSW.
SEDA College Principal Kate O’Donnell said the organisation was excited to partner with Basketball NSW to help deliver an exciting HSC curriculum that sits ‘outside the box’.
“SEDA College brings a new and exciting model of learning to senior secondary students in NSW, particularly those who love their sport,” O’Donnell said.
“From match day assistance to community programs; the Sydney Kings HSC Program offers engaging and practical experience, and gives students the opportunity to gain educational and industry qualifications in a hands-on environment.
“To learn more about the Sydney Kings HSC Program we’re encouraging prospective students, and their families, to join us at our information session. We’re looking forward to meeting with some wonderful young people and sharing more about what SEDA College can offer,” O’Donnell concluded.

A selection process will be conducted by SEDA College staff for prospective students to be accepted in the program; however, selection is not dependent on sports skill or ability.
