On Saturday night, former basketball players Suzy Batkovic OLY, Belinda Snell OLY, Maureen Elphinston (dec) & Kylie Gauci PLY along with former officials Brad Giersch & Matthew Wells were inducted into the Basketball NSW Hall of Fame class for 2021. They were joined by Hall of Famer, Lorraine Landon OAM who was also elevated to Legend at the Hall of Fame ceremony.
Landon now joins basketball superstars Alistair Ramsay MBE OAM (dec), Dr. John Raschke OAM (dec), Robert Staunton OAM (dec) Dr. Adrian Hurley OAM, Bob Elphinston OAM and Lauren Jackson AO OLY as Basketball NSW Legends.
The Hall of Fame Dinner was postponed in 2021 due to the pandemic but was finally held on Saturday 16th November, at Sydney Olympic Park with close to 200 guests in attendance.
Basketball NSW, CEO, Maria Nordstrom said she was honoured to be able to assist in the reward and recognition for some of NSW’s most well-deserving individuals.
“Induction into the Basketball NSW Hall of Fame represents the highest honour and recognition that an individual can achieve within our sport in this state,” said Nordstrom
We are very fortunate to have such an event to celebrate their induction and of course remember what they have achieved in all facets of the game from playing, coaching, officiating and in the administration areas.”
“It is also very special to see our latest elevation to Legend in Lorraine Landon and truly recognise the huge impact she has had on all other members of the 2021 Hall of Fame Class with each acceptance speech, highlighting the true impact and love Lorraine ne has for our game.”
