Basketball NSW has held its first Developing Athlete Program (DAP) for the new season at the Hills Basketball Stadium with 180 athletes and 25 coaches attending the Induction camp.

DAP underpins the State Performance Program (SPP) and operates in Metro NSW. The focus is on the identification, development, and support of individuals aged 13-15.

The DAP also serves as a platform to develop and educate aspiring elite coaches.

Basketball NSW, Metro High Performance Coach, Curtis Sardi was pleased with what he saw on court with the new DAP squad.

“It is always exciting to see the new brigade of players coming through the ranks. DAP plays an important role in Metro, particularly for our younger-aged athletes,” said Sardi.

“It serves to develop their fundamental skills, whilst also exposing them to our concepts of play. The program also allows us to further educate them about our BLUES culture and values. “

Athletes will now break over the school holiday period and then commence weekly workouts at their local training hub during Terms 1 and 2, with a final camp being held in June 2025.
