June saw the release of the NSW State Budget, which has seen families become the ‘big winners’ due to a record $401 million sport budget implemented
We are delighted to see NSW Government including the $100 sports rebate per school child per year in the new budget. The initiative supports the Premiers goal to reduce over weight and childhood obesity by 5% in the next 10 years.
This monitory incentive will be applied in the form of a voucher rebate, which will in turn reduce registration fees for sports and active leisure from the 1st of January 2018. Basketball New South Wales is thrilled about this investment within sport, as we await the arrival of further information in regards this rebate, and we will share it with our members as soon as it comes to hand.
We are also looking forward to working with government on the regional infrastructure initiative to support more in-door facilities being built in regional NSW.
