Basketball NSW in partnership with Indigenous Basketball Australia are happy to announce that we will be hosting various free NAIDOC 3×3 Basketball Carnivals across regional and metro NSW.

National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year, to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living culture on earth.

BNSW will be facilitating a number of 3×3 basketball carnivals in Wagga Wagga, Coffs Harbour, Illawarra and Moore Park.

These free 3×3 events are open to players from Under 12’s to Opens with plenty of activities for children aged 4.5 – 9 years.

Some of the activities include;
→ 3X3 Basketball
→ Shooting competitions
→ Fun games & prizes
→ Entertainment
→ Free food

This 3×3 tournament is an inclusive community event. Everyone is welcome, but we do ask that teams have a maximum of one representative player per team – the day is about fun and participation.

Basketball NSW, ICALD Manager Darren Allie expressed his excitement in delivering these free basketball events as part of NAIDOC festivities.

“Remote & regional Indigenous communities can be starved for sporting opportunities so one of our objectives is to come in and deliver an exciting opportunity for the whole community to attend and be a part of,” said Allie

“It was important for us to incorporate NAIDOC week into our sporting calendar as we want to acknowledge the culture and heritage of our Indigenous communities while embracing this year’s theme of ‘Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up’, which resonates with basketball and the spirit of the game.”

“We are encouraging everybody to attend one of our NAIDOC Week 3×3 Events, grab your friends and family to put a team together or register to be placed in a team for fun and action packed day of basketball.
