Basketball NSW successfully delivered the inaugural Assist All Hoops Association State Championships on Saturday, 7 December, with teams from across the state gathering at Kevin Betts Stadium for a full day of 3×3 competition.
The new State Championships were established to provide a state-level playing opportunity for athletes participating in the Assist All Hoops program and association-ran inclusion programs, which supports players with intellectual impairments and neurodiversities. The introduction of a formal championship event marks a significant step in expanding inclusive participation pathways within NSW.
The tournament featured both Junior and Senior 3×3 divisions, with teams playing multiple round games. For many players, this was their first experience competing in a structured state-wide event. Coaches and families noted the confidence and connection the athletes gained by representing their local associations on a bigger stage.
The success of the first State Championships reflects the growth of the Assist All Hoops program across NSW and highlights the demand for structured competitive opportunities for athletes with intellectual impairments. Basketball NSW will continue to work with associations to strengthen the pathway and build on the foundations established this year.
