Basketball NSW is proud to announce that nominations are now open for the Basketball NSW Hall of Fame Class of 2027, with the basketball community encouraged to recognise those who have made an outstanding contribution to the game across New South Wales.
The Basketball NSW Hall of Fame celebrates the individuals whose dedication, achievements and service have helped shape basketball in our state. Since its inception in 2011, 82 members of the basketball community have been inducted in recognition of their lasting impact on the sport.
The next Hall of Fame class will be officially inducted at the Basketball NSW Hall of Fame Dinner on Saturday 27th of November 2027, with the venue to be announced at a later date.
Nominations are open across the following categories:
- Player
- Coach
- Technical Official
- Contributor
A nominee’s contribution may span multiple categories, and posthumous nominations are also accepted.
Every two years, the Basketball NSW Honour Committee reviews nominations to identify individuals who have gone above and beyond in their service to basketball in New South Wales.
Each inductee has played an important role in growing and strengthening the game, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire future generations of players, coaches, officials and volunteers.
Basketball NSW, Interim CEO, David Simpson said the Hall of Fame is one of the organisation’s highest honours and encouraged associations and members from across the state to help recognise those who have made a lasting impact on the game.
“The Basketball NSW Hall of Fame is about recognising those individuals whose passion and service have helped shape basketball in New South Wales,” said Simpson.
“I would encourage every association to look within its own community and nominate those people whose contributions deserve to be recognised, whether as a player, coach, technical official or contributor. There are so many remarkable stories across our state, and this is our opportunity to ensure those legacies are celebrated and remembered for generations to come.”
Previous Hall of Fame inductees include Katie-Rae Ebzery OLY, Brendan Dowler OAM PLY, Kylie Gauci PLY, Matthew Wells, Lauretta Claus AM and Patrick Hunt AM, alongside many other outstanding members of the basketball community. In addition to new Hall of Fame inductees, the Honour Committee also considers existing Hall of Fame members for elevation to Legend status at each induction ceremony. Legend is the highest honour bestowed by Basketball NSW and recognises individuals whose achievements and influence have had an extraordinary and enduring impact on the sport.
Following the close of nominations, the Basketball NSW Honour Committee will undertake a thorough selection process to determine the individuals whose outstanding contributions to basketball in New South Wales will be recognised as the Hall of Fame Class of 2027. Successful inductees will be announced at a later date.
