Basketball NSW proudly hosted the 2025 Northern Under 12 John Davidson Country Jamboree in Coffs Harbour last weekend, celebrating another successful chapter in the state’s Under 12 development pathway.
The event brought together ten boys’ and ten girls’ teams, with athletes selected from U12 Skills Days held across Northern NSW. The Jamboree provided a unique opportunity for young country athletes to learn, grow, and enjoy basketball in a fun and inclusive environment, a tradition that continues to be a cornerstone of the Basketball NSW pathway.
Unlike traditional competitions, the focus of the Jamboree was on development and enjoyment rather than results. Across three days of action, players were encouraged to try new techniques, learn from different coaches and showcase their skills in a series of games that highlighted teamwork and fun.
Off the court, participants took part in education sessions designed to build confidence, leadership, and understanding of the game. Coaches also benefited from a free development clinic, ensuring the Jamboree experience supported growth for everyone involved. The girls’ teams attended a special Grit for Girls session, an inspiring program that focused on resilience, confidence, and leadership, empowering participants both on and off the court. Basketball NSW extends a heartfelt thank you to all athletes, coaches, referees, referee coaches, and volunteers who made the weekend such a success. Their dedication and love for the game ensured a positive and memorable experience for everyone involved.
