NEW SOUTH WALES BASKETBALL

New South Wales Basketball is the governing body of basketball in the state of NSW, Australia. Our vision is for basketball to unite communities by enabling participants to realise their potential through every level of the game.

ABOUT THE POSITION

We are seeking a motivated, passionate and highly driven High Performance Head Coach to join our Coaching and Development Team in 2022. The suitable candidate will be responsible for the implementation and management of Development and High-Performance Programs in NSW.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct High Performance player and network coaching sessions in Metropolitan and Regional NSW
  • Manage and conduct Developing Athlete Program (DAP) and State Performance Program (SPP)
  • Coordinate High Performance network venues and organise coaches
  • Produce resources to assist in the development of High-Performance Programs, including curriculum
  • Manage and coordinate the Talented Athlete Program (TAP)
  • Manage and coordinate specialist development camps/programs
  • Assist in the on-court and organisation of other development programs within the High-Performance department
  • Assist and consult with the State Team Programs
  • Assist with the presenting and running of coach education
  • Assist with the coordination and management of the High-Performance Development Tours

ARE YOU INVOLVED IN OTHER BASKETBALL ACTIVITIES?

If yes that’s great and we encourage our staff to be actively involved in the game in other capacities, such as playing, coaching, being a team manager, refereeing right through to just being a fan.

We get it, and we understand it, as basketball runs through the veins for a lot of our staff members.

The successful applicant can continue to undertake these activities in their own time, but this must be disclosed at the time for applying for the role and must not present conflicts of interest in this role.

If permission to undertake the requested appointment is granted and will require leave, the only form of leave from duties that will be made available to undertake is either annual leave or leave without pay.

Basketball NSW carries out performance appraisals (2 per year) with assessment against objectives as identified in the Coaching & Development Operational Plan.

Essential Requirements

  • Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check
  • Drivers Licence
  • Willingness to travel across NSW including regional areas
  • Demonstrated experience working with a wide range of stakeholders across various levels of an organisation
  • Previous experience working with and coaching elite athletes (basketball specific)
  • Excellent communication and administrative skills
  • Current full working rights in Australia
