November saw Australian wheelchair basketball teams continue to perform on the international stage, with important qualification outcomes across both 3×3 and traditional formats.
3×3 Wheelchair Basketball – Oceania Qualification | 2026 Commonwealth Games
Australia’s 3×3 wheelchair basketball teams secured Oceania qualification for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, following strong performances in Asia.
The Australian Wombats (Men) went undefeated against India, Malaysia and New Zealand to claim the Oceania qualification spot. Congratulations to NSW representative Luke Pople on his contribution to the campaign.
The Australian Wombats (Women) completed a strong campaign, defeating India in a best-of-three series in Bangkok to also secure Oceania qualification. Well done to NSW representatives Victoria Simpson and Georgia Munro-Cook.
Asia Oceania Zone (AOZ) Championships
The AOZ Championships served as an official qualification pathway to the 2026 IWBF World Championships in Ottawa, Canada.
The Australian Rollers claimed their 13th Asia Oceania Championship title, finishing the tournament with a perfect 8–0 record and defeating Japan in a closely contested championship game. Well done to Tristan Knowles, Bill Latham, and Luke Pople.
The Australian Gliders narrowly missed direct qualification and will now head to repechage in Spain in June 2026, where they will look to secure a place at the World Championships. NSW athletes Jessica Cronje, Hannah Dodd, Maryanne Latu, Georgia Munro-Cook and Victoria Simpson featured in the campaign.
Women’s and Men’s Pathway Events
In addition, the Women’s Pathways Camp saw NSW athletes Victoria Simpson, Talyn Reedy and Ava Edwards participate as part of the ongoing national development pathway.
Likewise, the Emerging Rollers men’s wheelchair basketball team represented Australia at the Kitakyushu Champions Cup, in early November 2025 in Kitakyushu, Japan. Congratulations to NSW athletes Jarrod Emeny and Jackson Gray.
