Basketball NSW congratulates Mackingdezz Savusa and Lachlan Skellett on their selection in the Australian Boomerangs (PWID) extended squad, recognised as part of the national program ahead of this weekend’s selection camp in Port Melbourne.

Their inclusion follows strong performances earlier this year as part of the Ivor Burge Men’s program, where the pair contributed to New South Wales securing a bronze medal. Their selection reflects continued development within the state’s pathways for athletes with an intellectual impairment.

Basketball Australia has named an extended squad for the Boomerangs program, with a two-day selection camp to be held at Hoop City this weekend. The camp will be used to identify the final 12-player team ahead of the Virtus Asia Oceania Games, set to take place in Bangkok, Thailand this November.

The Australian Boomerangs are the national men’s team for players with an intellectual impairment (PWID), managed by Basketball Australia in partnership with Sport Inclusion Australia. The program enters this campaign as reigning world champions, having claimed gold in both the 5×5 and 3×3 competitions at the 2025 Virtus World Championships, completing an undefeated tournament.

Savusa and Skellett’s selection in the extended squad highlights their performances at the national level and recognises their contribution to the Ivor Burge program in 2026.

Basketball NSW recognises both athletes on their selection and wishes them the best of luck.
