The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra is set to host the first-ever National Indigenous Performance Camp (NIPC) from August 3rd to 6th, 2024. This groundbreaking event marks a significant milestone in the Indigenous performance pathway, bringing together athletes and coaches from all Australian States and Territories for an intensive four-day live-in camp.

Basketball NSW proudly announces that three athletes from New South Wales have been selected to participate in this prestigious camp. Milly Sutcliffe from Dubbo Rams, Josh Boyle from Sydney Comets, and Cooper Crowe from Mudgee Lakers will represent NSW at the NIPC.

The camp, made possible through Australian Government legacy funding, aims to provide more opportunities for Indigenous youth through sport. The initiative underscores the importance of sport in fostering talent and providing a platform for young Indigenous athletes to excel.

Leading the camp are esteemed coach educators Kerry Williams and Peter Lonergan, supported by mentors Abby Cubillo, Tyson Demos, and Nathan Jawai. These mentors bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the camp, ensuring a high-quality training environment. Additionally, Jacqui Dover, returning from the NBA Referee Development Program, will contribute her expertise, further enriching the camp’s offerings.

Athletes were selected for the camp by high-performance coaches from various States and Territories, with additional community engagement facilitated by organizations such as IBA, Binar, H4H, ABA, and the Koorie Academy.

The NIPC will host 26 athletes aged 15-17 from across Australia, providing them with a unique opportunity to develop their skills, connect with peers, and learn from some of the best in the sport over the course of the four-day camp.
