Basketball NSW is proud to congratulate two Under 18 NSW Country athletes, Grace Lane (Illawarra Hawks) and Lado Kuron (Inner West Bulls), on being named recipients of the 2026 Commonwealth Games NSW (CGNSW) Athlete Grant Program.
Lane and Kuron are among 43 young athletes across New South Wales to receive the grant, with each recipient awarded $1,000 to support their ongoing development within their respective sporting pathways.
The CGNSW Athlete Grant Program, now in its eighth year, continues to recognise and invest in emerging talent, with a total of 248 athletes supported since its inception in 2016. Athletes are nominated by their respective State Sporting Organisations and must meet key criteria, including being under 20 years of age and a resident of New South Wales.
Commonwealth Games NSW CEO Peter Tate highlighted the calibre of this year’s recipients.
“These 43 young athletes have demonstrated tremendous ability in their respective sport pathways and we’re hopeful many will be selected to represent Australia at future Commonwealth Games,” said Tate.
Basketball NSW, General Manager Performance Pathways, Brett Coxsedge, acknowledged the importance of the program in supporting the next generation of athletes.
“We (BNSW) greatly appreciate the support provided through this grant. CGNSW has been a great supporter of young and upcoming athletes for many years,” said Coxsedge.
“These grants will play a vital role in helping our athletes continue their development and compete at the highest level.”
The recognition reflects the strength of Basketball NSW’s pathway programs and reinforces the organisation’s commitment to developing athletes.
