Basketball NSW is proud to announce that referee Zara Baldwin (Maitland Basketball Association) has been selected to represent Australia in the prestigious FIBA Rising Whistle Program.
The initiative is part of FIBA’s commitment to advancing gender equity in officiating, with the goal of ensuring 30% female referee representation at all Oceania events by 2027.
As a participant in the program, Baldwin will engage in a comprehensive development pathway that includes online workshops, mentoring, and fitness development. These experiences are designed to prepare referees for international opportunities, with the program culminating in the chance to officiate at the Under-17 FIBA Oceania Cup in Samoa this December.
Basketball NSW’s Head of Technical Officials, Steve Clark, congratulated Baldwin on her achievement.
