Basketball NSW is pleased to announce the referees selected to represent New South Wales at the 2026 Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup (ACJBC), taking place this week in Albury-Wodonga.
The ACJBC remains one of the most respected events on the Australian basketball calendar, bringing together leading country junior athletes, country coaches, and country officials for a week of high-quality competition. The tournament plays an important role in developing emerging talent across the country, and provides a strong pathway experience for all participants involved, both on and off the court.
For NSW referees, selection to officiate at ACJBC is a significant achievement and reflects their ongoing commitment to learning and progression through the Basketball NSW Referee Pathway Program. The event challenges officials to manage games at a high standard, build consistency under pressure, and continue strengthening the core skills required for future state and national appointments.
The tournament will also include the presence of experienced Referee Educators, who will support selected officials throughout the week with mentoring, feedback, and technical development. This structure ensures referees are continually learning and being equipped with the tools needed to officiate confidently at the highest junior levels.
Basketball NSW Head of Technical Officials, Steve Clark, said the ACJBC is an important opportunity for young country referees to begin the year in a high-performance setting.
“Being selected for ACJBC is a strong reflection of the work these officials have put into their development,” said Clark.
“This tournament is fast-paced and demanding, and it provides a valuable opportunity for referees to apply their skills, receive feedback, and continue learning in a national environment. I’m looking forward to seeing our group represent NSW professionally and embrace the challenge across the week.”
Basketball NSW congratulates all appointed officials and wishes them the best.
