Media Release: Basketball Australia

The Australian Pearls have confirmed their squad for the 2026 VIRTUS / VIBF World 3×3 Cup, with the team heading to Bangkok, Thailand, this November to defend their world title.

Basketball NSW is proud to recognise NSW Ivor Burge State Team players Brittany Anderson, Ruby Thomson and Mackenzie Wills, who have been selected in the 10-player squad, alongside NSW’s Larry Davidson, who will lead the Australian Pearls as Head Coach.

The final squad was selected following a three-day camp at the Australian Institute of Sport, where an extended group of 16 athletes came together before being reduced to the World Cup roster.

Head Coach Larry Davidson praised the growing standard across the group as the players continue to develop their understanding of the 3×3 format.

“The standard from all the players has once again lifted as they all become very comfortable with the 3×3 format,” said Davidson.

“As current World Champions in both 3×3 and 5×5 there is pressure on Australia to continue to produce a strong program. We have added some new younger talent to our experienced core players – I’m very excited about this campaign.”

Australia heads into the tournament as the reigning world champions in both 3×3 and 5×5 basketball, with the squad combining experienced Pearls with emerging talent.
