Basketball Australia has announced the 12 athletes selected to represent the Australian Gliders at the 2026 IWBF World Championships in Ottawa, Canada, from 9th–19th of September.
Basketball NSW recognises NSW juniors Hannah Dodd, Maryanne Latu and Georgia Munro-Cook, who have all earned selection in the final team.
The Gliders will head to Ottawa with the same 12 athletes who secured Australia’s qualification for the World Championships through the Repechage tournament in Madrid earlier this year.
Dodd and Munro-Cook also recently represented Australia in wheelchair basketball 3×3 at the Commonwealth Games, helping Australia claim the bronze medal.
The Gliders will face Brazil, China, Great Britain, Spain and hosts Canada during the group stage as they look to make their mark on the world stage.
Australia’s qualification for the World Championships followed a strong campaign at the Repechage in Madrid, after the Gliders narrowly missed direct qualification through the 2025 Asia Oceania Zone Championships.
Basketball NSW congratulates Hannah, Maryanne and Georgia on their selection and extends its best wishes to all athletes currently playing for NSW teams in the National Wheelchair Basketball League who have been named in the team, and to the entire Gliders team ahead of the World Championships in Ottawa.
