Basketball NSW would like to share with our members some key points from our 2025 Annual General Meeting that was held on the 24th of May.

Board of Directors:

We are pleased to announce that Lisa Yen has been elected to the Basketball NSW Board of Directors, and Mark Wilks has been re-elected, both Lisa and Mark’s appointments are for 3-years.

The Board continues to play a vital role in shaping the strategic direction of basketball in New South Wales, offering leadership and oversight to support our network of local associations and the broader basketball community.

Life Membership:

We are proud to announce that Steve Burke from Hills Basketball Association has been awarded Life Membership of Basketball NSW in recognition of his outstanding service to the sport. His induction brings the total number of Life Members to 45 – a group of individuals whose long-standing contributions have helped shape the basketball landscape across the state.

Steve Burke has devoted decades to basketball through playing, coaching, and leadership roles, with a lasting impact on the sport’s development in New South Wales. Starting as a player for Grafton, Newcastle, and Hills Basketball (1981–1991), his most significant contributions have come off the court. As CEO of Hills Basketball since 1995, he has overseen the association’s growth into the largest in the state, supported by strong government partnerships and the management of nine basketball courts. His leadership also extends to the BNSW Metropolitan Advisory Committee, where he has served since 2017.

In addition to his executive achievements, Steve has contributed to basketball marketing and event management, holding roles such as Project Manager for the Reebok 3×3 series and Venue Director for the World Masters Games. His dedication to the broader sports community is evident through volunteer work at major international events and his receipt of the Australian Sports Medal.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Steve on this well-deserved honour.

Looking Ahead:

Basketball NSW remains focused on building the sport at all levels, ensuring strong governance, inclusive participation, and continued growth. We look forward to another productive and inspiring year for our basketball community.
