Basketball NSW invites applications from eligible individuals who wish to be considered for an appointed director vacancy for a term of two (2) years. The role of an appointed director is voluntary, but a small ex-gratia payment is paid to cover costs.
The Board is seeking finance expertise, the appointed director would assume the Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee.
BNSW is searching for a person who understands the role of a board director, as opposed to simply having experience with board operations. Interested persons should note that the board prefers someone who is GAICD qualified. Cultural board fit is essential.
While the 2025 Strategy is focused on increasing basketball participation in NSW which is underpinned by infrastructure expansion, the appointed director role will play an important role in supporting the infrastructure expansion.
An affinity for sport or basketball or direct experience in the sports industry is advantageous but not essential.
Preferred Skills Sought
- Experienced Finance Executive or Partner (over 15 years’ experience)
- Current member of CA or CPA Qualified
- Previous Chair of Finance Committee experience preferred
- GAICD preferred
- Previous Board and/or committee experience preferred

- Capacity to leverage professional networks to promote and grow Basketball NSW by creating opportunities for both financial and other support to create more programs to access the sport and more places to play.
Duration of Appointment – 2 year position
