Basketball NSW has renewed its long-running partnership with Spalding by extending their partnership by another two years.

BNSW and Spalding have been playing ball together since 2018 and with this extension, the agreement will continue until 2025.

Under the agreement, Spalding will remain the official basketball of all competitions including NBL1 East and Waratah Leagues as well as the naming rights partner of our Spalding Waratah League and Official Backboard supplier.

Today basketball is the most popular indoor sport in Australia, and unlike other sports, it is played every day of the year.  Over the last six years, we have experienced exceptional growth with our member participants growing by 34% in 2022. This means we had 85,820 members playing what we call organised sport across NSW.

Chris Lambert, Spalding Australia Managing Director said, “Spalding is proud to remain the Official Basketball and Backboard for Basketball NSW. Basketball is our heartland and as participation continues to grow across the state, we look forward to working closely with the BNSW team to provide balls and equipment for all levels of the game.”

Basketball NSW, CEO, Maria Nordstrom is thrilled with the extension and had this to say,  “We are delighted to continue our long-standing relationship with Spalding into its fifth year as we work together in assisting in growing the game across the state.”

“To continue this partnership is fantastic for both parties as we both share the same passion for the sport and have access to resources to pursue the vitally important goals we both strive to achieve such as boosting all areas of growth.”

“Together, we can create a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone involved in the game – no matter their age or ability.  I feel extremely positive about the future of basketball in the NSW with Spalding on hand,” said Nordstrom.

The Spalding and Basketball NSW partnership is part of the organisation’s long-standing commitment to supporting basketball across all levels. The donation of thousands of balls as part of the Sporting Schools program will continue to give more kids the opportunity to enjoy being active while playing basketball in a safe and fun environment.

As part of the partnership agreement, Basketball NSW will be holding a limited-time offer with 20% off all Spalding Basketballs from the 14th-30th April.
