Basketball NSW is delighted to announce that the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd of April will be the Spalding Waratah Junior League (Country) Indigenous Round.

The Spalding Waratah Junior League Indigenous Rounds will acknowledge the significant contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to basketball in NSW and the broader basketball community. By acknowledging the contribution, Basketball aims to highlight the importance of respect for Indigenous Peoples and their cultures which are prominent in our game.

Basketball NSW is committed to working with Indigenous communities to address and tackle the barriers that face basketball participants in being able to take part in and enjoy our game.

These dedicated rounds will pay respects to the Traditional Owners of the Land by having Welcome to Countries at key venues, and showcasing the Official Basketball NSW aboriginal artwork, designed by Jordan Ardler.

In partnership with our apparel partner iAthletic, there will be the opportunity to buy merchandise that feature Jordan’s artwork at the following venues. Profits from the sale of these items will be split between an organisation close to Jordan’s heart and local Aboriginal organisations in the area where the round is being held.

Bathurst Indoor Sports Stadium
Beaton Park Stadium (The Snakepit), Illawarra

3rd April: 9:30am – 4pm

Indigenous Rounds will also take place later in the season for Spalding Waratah Metro Junior League,  Spalding Waratah Senior League and Coles Express NBL1 East, as well as at the Senior League finals weekend.
