Media Release: Basketball Australia
Basketball Australia has announced an extended 25-player squad for the U19 Emus ahead of the FIBA U19 Men’s Basketball World Cup.
Basketball NSW congratulates Emmett Adair (Norths Bears), Flynn Pavely (Manly Warringah Sea Eagles), James Dyson Merwe (City of Sydney Comets) and Goc Malual (Blacktown Storm) on their selection, along with Head Coach Robbie McKinlay (Sutherland Sharks/CoE) and Assistant Coach Jacob Jackomas (City of Sydney Comets).
The selected athletes will take part in an initial training camp at the Centre of Excellence, Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra, from March 17–20 as preparations begin for the upcoming World Cup.
Head Coach Robbie McKinlay and his staff will use the four-day intensive as a foundation for the Emus’ campaign in Switzerland this June.
McKinlay will operate alongside Joel Khalu and Jacob Jackomas who have been selected as assistant coaches.
“This is the start of the journey towards the World Cup so it’s an exciting time for these young players. We are looking forward to having such a deep and versatile group in camp,” said McKinlay.
