Basketball NSW is aware of the incident that occurred on Saturday 16 May at Bathurst Indoor Sports Stadium during the Youth League fixture between the Bathurst Goldminers and Macarthur United.
We acknowledge the response from Bathurst Basketball United and commend the association for the prompt and professional manner in which the situation was managed on the night.
Basketball NSW is currently conducting an investigation into the matter and it would be inappropriate to comment further until that process is complete. All parties involved will be afforded the opportunity to be heard as part of that process.
What we can say clearly and without reservation is that Basketball NSW has zero tolerance for inappropriate behaviour at any of our competitions or venues, whether from players, coaches, officials, or spectators. Everyone who walks through the doors of a basketball stadium deserves to feel safe and respected.
Basketball NSW will take whatever action is necessary and proportionate once the investigation has concluded.
We ask all members of the basketball community to respect the integrity of this process and to continue upholding the values our sport stands for, respect, sportsmanship, and fair play.
