From the 22nd to the 26th of May the Basketball NSW High Performance Department held its Talented Athlete Program camp at the Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation.

The process started with over 500 male and female athletes throughout country and metropolitan NSW competing for one of 100 positions for the annual camp. Once selected, invited athletes were asked to attend a 3-day camp that consisted of on-court skill development, exposure to the Basketball Australia style-of-play, an insight into prehabiliation & recovery strategies, a nutrition seminar, and a speed and agility development session.

State Coaching & Development Manager Nathan Kirwan was extremely impressed with the standard of the athletes, “It was great to see in both groups that the standard of individual skill of both regional and metropolitan athletes was high. This is a reflection of the great work associations and volunteers throughout NSW are doing to develop the next generation of athletes. Considering some of NSW’ most successful athletes came through this very development program is promising in itself, and I am very excited to follow the progress of each individual athlete’s journey moving forward.”
