Basketball NSW is proud to announce the newest addition to our growing family of affiliated associations, the Port Stephens Basketball Association.
Located in one of the most picturesque coastal regions of NSW, Port Stephens Basketball is ready to make waves in the local sporting scene. Operating out of the various school and council owned outdoor courts, the association has big plans to grow basketball across the region and provide more opportunities for players, coaches, and referees to be part of the game we all love.
“We are thrilled to officially join the Basketball NSW community,” said the Port Stephens Basketball Association committee. “Our region has an incredible passion for sport, and we’re excited to build a strong, inclusive basketball program that creates opportunities for our local players to participate, compete, and represent their area with pride. From grassroots through to representative level, we want to be a place where kids fall in love with basketball,” said Luke Gilray, Port Stephens Basketball Association
Basketball NSW, CEO, Maria Nordstrom, warmly welcomed the new association:
“It’s fantastic to see basketball continuing to grow across the state. We’re excited to welcome Port Stephens Basketball Association into our network. Their commitment to providing quality experiences for participants aligns with our strategic focus of making basketball more accessible and inclusive across NSW.”
Port Stephens Basketball will launch with learn-to-play programs including Ford Aussie Hoops, as well as junior and senior domestic competitions mid-2025. With support from Basketball NSW, the association will also develop its coaching and officiating programs as it builds toward future involvement in representative competitions.
Together, we look forward to watching the Port Stephens basketball community grow and thrive as they take their first steps as an affiliated association.
Welcome to the family, Port Stephens!
