The NSW U18 Metro Girls are proud recipients of the silver medal after a tough week of competition at the Under 18 & Kevin Coombs Cup Footlocker National Championships.
From April 8th to 16th, five NSW teams battled for top positions in their respective pools, with the U18 Metro Girls securing a spot in the gold medal match along with the U18 Metro Boys and the Kevin Coombs Cup Wheelchair team vying for bronze.
Despite valiant efforts, the NSW U18 Country Boys & Girls were ultimately eliminated in the quarter-finals, finishing in 6th and 8th place, respectively.
Basketball NSW General Manager of Coaching and Development Brett Coxsedge was delighted with the results.
“The U18 Metro girl’s silver medal is a remarkable result given the adversity the team faced during the tournament with sickness in the camp threatening to derail the team mid-week. They fought hard in the final however came up just short,” said Coxsedge.
“Also, having two teams play off for bronze medals and all teams making the quarter-finals, it was a pretty successful campaign for our teams.”
